EPA Update: Coronavirus and Drinking Water and Wastewater

There is no higher priority for EPA than protecting the health and safety of Americans. EPA is providing this important information about COVID-19 as it relates to drinking water and wastewater to provide clarity to the public. The COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking-water supplies. Based on current evidence, the risk to water supplies is low. CDC Update: Water Transmission and COVID-19, Drinking Water, Recreational Water and Wastewater: What You Need to Know

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking water. Conventional water treatment methods that use chlorine disinfection, such as those in municipal utility district’s drinking water systems, should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19. As the cost of water continues to rise, we thought it would be helpful to show customers what is billed and where your monthly payment goes.

If you were to use 10,000 gallons of water, your total bill would be $93.07.

Of that total:

• $38.88 is the fee paid to the West Harris County Regional Water Authority (WHCRWA). The fee is currently $3.888 / 1,000 gallons.
• $21.00 is the water fee charged by Rolling Creek M.U.D. The flat fee of $21.00 is charged for up to 10,000 gallons of use. A variable fee per thousand gallons is charged over 10,000 gallons of use.
• $33.19 is the sewer fee charged by Rolling Creek MUD This is a flat fee billed each month.

Security Advisory

• Please lock your vehicles.  Most thefts from vehicles are through unlocked doors. It takes seconds to break a window, but doing so makes noise – and criminals hate noise. You also want to make sure that all windows are rolled up before locking your vehicle. Also, if you have a car alarm please make sure it is working properly – and use it!
• Hide valuables from site. Even better, take all items of value with you. If a criminal doesn’t see anything, they’re less likely to break in to your vehicle and will proceed to the next vehicle to “window shop.” Remember to hide valuables before parking and leaving your vehicle. Give a would-be thief absolutely no reason to burglarize your car.
• Take your keys. Unfortunately, it is still common practice for individuals to leave their keys in their car and/or in the ignition when unattended.

There is no 100% fool-proof way to prevent all crime. You can make yourself less likely to be a victim of motor vehicle burglary by following the above practices and using common sense. Simply locking your vehicle and removing property is half the battle.
